On 11 June 2018, two women from rural Gujarat, who were in love with each other, committed suicide, along with a child in Ahmedabad. The same-sex couple left two suicide notes -- one written on a paper plate and the other under the railing of the riverfront. Through their suicide note, they declared their love for one another to the world. The note that they left behind said, "We had distanced ourselves from the world so that we could unite, but the world did not let us live." The couple were reportedly under tremendous familial pressures from their respective families to end the relationship. They had eloped about three days before their deaths, along with the child. However, neither families had filed missing person's report. While one of the women was a resident of Bavla, the other lived in Rajoda, Gujarat. They both worked in the same place at Sari gaon, near Matoda, where they met each other, and fell in love.
