The Vice-Chancellor, pro Vice-Chancellor and registrar of Jadavpur University were freed by the Students on Friday after 50-hours of gherao. The students were protesting against the suspension of two engineering students on the charges of ragging. The students were demanding that the punishment meted out to the two students be withdrawn. They alleged that the two students merely got into a scuffle and were wrongfully punished.
