Jaipur: A six-day-old baby hasn't been held or nursed by her mother Bhawna as yet. The 22-year-old Bhawna is battling for her life after she was given contaminated glucose at Jodhpur's Umaid Hospital. Three others were also administered the deadly dose. All of them are now on ventilator support. In all, twelve pregnant women have died of excessive bleeding in the last ten days at the same government hospital, all for the same reason. 
 
Bhawna's family hopes that the doctors will save her. 
 
Protests broke out outside the hospital forcing the government to take action. The government has now registered an FIR against the drug company Parental Surgical India Private Limited. The MP-based company had allegedly supplied the contaminated IV fluid to the Jodhpur hospital which was in news last year for giving infected blood to thalassemic patients. 
 
Rajasthan Health Minister Aimuddin Ahmed Khan said, "As far as we are concerned it is the drug company, against which we have registered an FIR and sent the samples to a lab in Kolkata. We are waiting for the reports after which we will also go to the court." 
 
The government has also issued an alert to all hospitals using the infected IV fluid and ordered an enquiry. 
 
"We're getting the entire matter looked into. A probe has been commissioned strict action will be taken against those guilty," said Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. 
 
But that is little consolation for either the families of the twelve pregnant women in Jodhpur who've died over the last ten days or those of the four who're on ventilators battling for their lives.
