Chennai: Actor and director Kamal Haasan on Saturday met representatives of the Muslim groups that have been protesting against his latest film 'Vishwaroopam' in Chennai. The meeting is being mediated by Tamil Nadu Home Secretary and aims to reach a compromise over the film's release.

The Muslim groups have been protesting against the film claiming that it hurts their sentiments. Following violent protests, during which petrol bombs were hurled at two theatres in the state, the Madras High Court ordered a stay on the film's release. It will pronounce its verdict on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the film's Hindi version, 'Vishwaroop' opened to packed theatres on Friday. The viewers praised the performances by the actors and argued there was no anti-Muslim content in it.

The Home Secretary also met Kamal Haasan's brother Chandra Haasan and representatives of the protesting groups on Friday to reach at an amicable solution.

Kamal Haasan has indicated that he may not move the Supreme Court now, saying that he would wait for the High Court's judgement next week while continuing talks with the Muslim groups on the sidelines.
