Hyderabad: While Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao's belief in vaastu is well known, he has found himself in the middle of a controversy after the Opposition accused him of wasting state funds over shifting the state Secretariat citing vaastu as a reason. 
 
The Telangana government has decided to build a new secretariat by abandoning the existing building due to vaastu issues. The famous Chest Hospital in Erragudda will be relocated for the new building to come up. The estimated cost of the shifting is likely to be around Rs 150 crore. 
 
"Definitely, this secretariat has serious Vaastu dosh. It is a fact. History has also not been good. Telangana is a new state and it should not suffer," Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao said. 
 
The state-run chest hospital, where new secretariat is planned is not only known to be heritage structure but also caters to hundreds of patients from across the state. Certainly people are going to face problem, but government concerned that due to vaastu defect state doesn't suffer. 
 
The Telangana government has also appointed a Vaastu advisor, who will be consulted on "architectural issues". This means that every development project will now need vaastu approval. 
 
"Vaastu is a proven science so nothing is wrong if we use it for betterment of the state," TRS MP Kavitha said. 
 
The Telangana government will also donate Rs 5 crore to the cash-rich Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala. KCR had pledged that he would donate money to the temple if bifurcation became a reality. The donation is being paid from the Common Good Fund, which is part of the government department that looks after temples and trusts across the state. The Opposition has slammed the government for wasting taxpayer money. 
 
"The logic is ridiculous. He is wasting public money. We condemn it," Congress leader Shravan said. In the past, K Chandrashekhar Rao's obsession with astrology led to his official vehicles going in for a change of colour, from black to white. He even made changes at party offices and his official residence in accordance with Vaastu. The question remains that in a state racked with poverty and poor development, how can the government justify spending crores of taxpayer money to ward off evil influences.
