Hyderabad: It was a narrow escape for Aurobindo Pharma's Director K Nityananda Reddy on Wednesday morning when a man wielding an AK-47 rifle allegedly tried to abduct the businessman in Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. When he resisted, the unidentified gunman fired three rounds in the air before fleeing the scene.
No one was injured in the incident. Police confirmed that the assailant got into Reddy's car from the other side while Reddy had climbed into the driver's seat, following which there was a scuffle, during the course of which all the bullets were fired into the air. Although no one was injured and the assailant got away but he left his weapon behind.
An eyewitness also confirmed the same.
The incident occurred while Reddy was out on a morning walk. The police is probing the case.
"Suddenly this man came and threatened me with the gun. I tried to catch hold of the weapon and also shouted for help and my brother tried to catch him. The person fired some rounds at my car before fleeing," said Reddy narrating the turn of events.
