Kolkata: Panic spread in the busy Chandni Chowk commercial hub of central Kolkata on Friday afternoon following a low intensity explosion from a crude bomb. The bomb squad personnel from the Lalbazar city police headquarters rushed to the spot with sniffer dogs and recovered a second crude bomb from the spot.
Police said there were no injuries or casualties. They said that a box, which was lying near the crossing of Central Avenue and Madan street, suddenly exploded in the busy area, where people were on way to their offices.
"Fortunately, there is no casualty or injury in the incident. An investigation is on," the police said. "Preliminary investigation reveals that the incident was not a serious one. Normalcy has been restored in the entire area," the police said.
