Mumbai: A Mumbai court on Friday acquitted police officer Pradeep Sharma of all charges in a fake encounter case. Twelve other police officers have been convicted in the case relating to the murder of Chhota Rajan's associate Ramnarain Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiya.

Lakhan's brother said the main evidence against Pradeep Sharma was that that bullet found in the victim's head was fired from his gun. "On what grounds he was acquitted I will analyse after I read the judgement. After getting a copy of the judgement, I will file an appeal in the Bombay High Court," he said.

Lakhan Bhaiya was killed on November 11, 2006 in Mumbai's Versova area. Pradeep Sharma was among the 22 people who are accused in the encounter case. Lakhan was accused in 19 cases including 12 of murder.

In 2008, the Bombay High Court had ordered an magisterial inquiry and later appointed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident.
