New Delhi: Artist Satish Gupta did a MF Hussain and opened Sitaray, an art exhibition to popping flashbulbs in the Capital.
While Gupta mixed colour with music to do a live painting, other participating artists like Anjolie Ela Menon decided to re-jig the high tea instead, putting their artistic skills to some culinary use.
So, the canvas plus a little bit of canvassing is equal to a superhit art show!
“I have a ladle in one hand and a brush in another,†Anjolie said.
And as far as preferring between being a cook or an artist, Anjolie quipped, “Ask my husband because he can hardly make out the difference between a good painting and a soufflé.â€
Clearly fun follows fun, an art camp in London last year led to this collection. And senior artists like Yusuf Arrakal, Paresh Maity, Jogen Choudhry, Anjolie and Naina Kanodia became mates to a free exchange of art and ideas.
“I knew them all before but we came to know each other better in London,†artist Naina Kanodia said.
The works are on display in the Capital till May 14 and while none of them suggest that the artists have evolved, they did manage to rake in Delhi's hoity-toity crowd and a lot of ready moolah for the paintings.
