Mumbai: Pramod Mahajan's brother-in-law Gopinath Munde dropped a bombshell at the Mumbai sessions court hearing the Pramod Mahajan murder case on Wednesday, saying Pramod had received a threatening SMS from his brother Pravin a few days before he was shot dead. 
 
The statement, coming days after a claim by Pramod Mahajan's wife Rekha Mahajan in the court that Praveen had asked for Rs 1 crore from his brother, has given a shot in the arm to the prosecution in the high-profile murder trial. 
 
Pravin Mahajan was calm inside the courtroom on Wednesday just like any other day during the ongoing trial as defence counsel Harshad Ponda cross-examined Munde. 
 
Munde told the court that Pravin had sent a threatening SMS to Pramod about four to five days before shooting him. 
 
The message said, "Ab na hogi prarthna ab na hogi yachna ab maran hoga ab jeet hogi ya anth hoga, There would be no more prayers, no more pleas. There will now be only a war, a win or the end." 
 
The prosecution says Munde's revelation of the SMS threat will give it a better chance for securing a conviction in the case. 
 
"Gopinath said there were two reasons for the murder. One was that 10 to 12 days before the murder, Praveen had demanded Rs 1 crore and secondly four to five days before the murder, Praveen had sent an SMS," public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam told CNN-IBN after the court hearing. 
 
The court has asked the Mahajans to come up with Pramod Mahajan's mobile records to substantiate Munde's statement.
