Women and Child Welfare Minister Maneka Gandhi on Monday said that juveniles who commit rape should be tried as adults. National Commission for Women chairperson Mamata Sharma supported Maneka Gandhi's opinion and said, " I think what Maneka Gandhi is doing is right, the matter is debatable, so I think Child psychologists should be consulted, and experts should be asked, and also they should ask for people's opinions." Kiran Bedi, an Indian social activist and a retired Indian Police Service officer said, "laws are not written in the stone, laws are for people, and to do justice to society, laws need to be changed accordingly, so if government is reviewing, that's why I support amendments in the Juvenile Justice law."
