New Delhi: Delhi's high security areas of India gate and Rajpath are amongst the most unsafe for children as three go missing from this VIP zones every day. Three-year-old Jhanvi, who was found a week after she went missing, is now the mascot for missing children across the nation.
But 18-month-old Abhinav was just one of the many thousand children who may not be as lucky as her.
According to Delhi Police, year 2014 alone saw more than 5,841 minors missing. Out of these 3,927 minors were traced while 1,914 never returned.
After Jhanvi went missing at India Gate, the Delhi Police has escalated the security.
Mukesh Meena, Joint Commisioner of Delhi Police, said, "More officials are deployed. CCTV cameras will be installed."
In the wake of the alleged kidnapping of Jhanvi from India Gate, CNN-IBN learnt that the police has even decided to launch a verification drive for hawkers operating around India Gate and Rajpath.
A visitor said, "Once the cards are there it will be secure and safe."
