Mumbai: The activists of Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have once again gone on a rampage against migrants in Mumbai and demolished shacks and hutments in Ghatkopar suburb on Sunday.
MNS activists alleged they were illegal constructions encroaching into mangroves and that most of the shacks belonged to migrant workers from outside Maharashtra.
MNS workers said that they had written to the authorities several times but since none of them responded, they had to do the demolition work themselves.
This came a few days after MNS men attacked paani puri stalls belonging to migrants. The rise in violence seemed to be possibly due to the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
