New Delhi: Rapid Action Force, police in riot gear and water cannons greeted the residents of Mangolpuri on Saturday as violent protests continued over the rape of a minor girl at an MCD school. A day has passed, but the police are yet to identify the rapist. 
 
The police say they are questioning "everybody related to the case". According to the parents of the rape survivor, the girl didn't know the man. He reportedly lured her into an empty classroom, tricking her into believing that her teacher had summoned her and then he sexually assaulted her. 
 
The child has now been released from hospital, but the trauma she underwent would be harder to heal. The doctor who treated her said that sexual assault was "prima facie evident". 
 
Rape in broad daylight in a government-run school in the national capital has once again exposed the lack of sensitivity of Delhi towards its women and children. What remains to be seen is how soon does the police crack this case and make the arrest.
