New Delhi: Former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf called US President Barack Obama arrogant. In an interview with CNN, Musharraf said Operation Geronimo, the US raid that killed al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden, was an act of war against Pakistan.
CNN: President Obama said this week on a British television show while on a state visit to Britain, that if the same event arose again, he would do the same and if the same thing happens with other known terrorists of the al Qaeda he would take the same action. So now we have a clear flash point between America and Pakistan.
Pervez Musharraf: I think that this is putting the Pakistan leadership and the government on the dock and I think that it's not a very responsible statement.
CNN: It was irresponsible of President Obama to say that?
Pervez Musharraf: Yes indeed.
CNN: Because it basically implies that America has rights in terms of taking action on the sovereign soil of Pakistan, like it did with bin Laden but you're saying that it has no right to do that?
Pervez Musharraf: Certainly. No country has the right to intrude into any other country. If you see it technically or legally, it's an act of war. Hence ,I think that it's a very irresponsible statement and I think such arrogance should not be shown.
