Bollywood through the crystal ball

Mumbai: 2006 is passe now, so it would only be prudent to know what one can expect from 2007 for Bollywood.

Theirs is the sumptuous Bollywood love story bordering on reel life. She's Bollywood's ice-maiden. He's the crown prince who melted her heart. The rumour mills have gone into overdrive about this alliance. If astrologer Chandrashekhar Swamy is to be believed, wedding chants will be heard on February 19, 2007.

Both Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have been tight-lipped on the issue, with the occasional joke directed at the inquisitive media itself.

"What makes you think anything is impending?" Abhishek was heard asking a section of the media.

The next big newsmaker on our list will be the new host of Kaun Banega Crorepati> - Shah Rukh Khan - and if you are one of the countless jelly-kneed gals dreaming about sitting on the hot-seat opposite King Khan, here's how the quizmaster promises to revive you:

"I will just take her in my arms and sing tujhe dekha toh yeh jaana sanam," grins this cheeky Don of Bollywood.

Should be reason enough for one to start jamming the phone lines.

Now in an era of remakes, this will perhaps be the biggest gamble and the most looked-forward-to remake of its time. But Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is sticking his neck out and casting the man who immortalised Jai as Gabbar Singh. Does that make Ramu ingenious or insane?

"I think it's audacious. I think Sholay is an audacious film," says he.

Controversy's favourite child this year was certainly music director Himesh Reshammiya. The composer and singer is all set to take off his trademark cap and wear the shoes of an actor in the year ahead.

The film is called Aap Ka Suroor and it's reportedly being produced at a budget of close to Rs 75 crore!

After Helen Keller, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has found love - as an inspiration for his next film, that is.

He is now launching two newcomers to 'rediscover' his own innocence in Saawariya. The love story is the debut vehicle of two star kids - Rishi Kapoor's son Ranbir and Anil Kapoor's daughter Sonam.

So here's wishing all of them a full year of fame, fortune and success.
