Hyderabad University's acting Vice-Chancellor Vipin Srivastava said that there was no pressure from the HRD Ministry and the University acted as per the proctorial board's orders against the five Dalit students. "We will try our best to open a dialogue with the students. We were under pressure from the High Court and we acted according to the proctorial board. None of the students were suspended by the executive council. They were advised not to stay in hostels after they were involved in some indisciplinary activities. There was no pressure from the HRD Ministry, these reports are completely wrong," said Srivastava.
