Kolkata: Five days after a 70-year-old nun was raped in West Bengal's Nadia district, the case has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Tweeting over the incident, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the move is after taking the sensitivity of the case into consideration. 
 
Earlier in the day, the President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India visited Nadia showing solidarity with the nun. He had urged the authorities to ensure that justice is done. 
 
Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has also taken suo motu cognisance of the case and has issued a notice to the West Bengal government. 
 
No arrests in the case have been made so far. There have been massive protests after miscreants raped the nun and vandalised a church in West Bengal. The Chief Minister, too, was faced with an angry mob who tried to block her convoy when she visited the nun.
