Bhopal: Balatant violation of norms of the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) Learning have come up. CNN-IBN has accessed a report by an NIOS flying squad. During spot checks at government schools in Bhind last year it found that at an exam centre in Gohad, 82 students registered for secondary science exam were absent. So were 16 students registered for the senior secondary exam.

But later when NIOS declared results, most students cleared the examinations. In Umri, out of 87 students registered for a mathematics exam only 45 were present. But the centre superintendent had reported only 10 absent.

When CNN-IBN confronted the Regional Director of NIOS he accused the flying squad instead. Akhilesh Kumar Sharma said, "How can you trust the flying squad. They can also demand money."

As per rules only students belonging or living in a particular region can be allowed to appear in the NIOS exam from its centre in the region. The students at the time of admission are required to give their postal addresses for this purpose and not more than three students can have the same residential address.

But here we found out that students from Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir had a common postal address in Bhind thereby suggesting that a nexus of touts is operating. CNN-IBN found 100 such students from places as far as Karnataka, Orissa and Rajasthan having the the same postal address.
