Nearly 11 years after the Kargil war, an Armed Forces Tribunal has ruled that top commanders fudged accounts of battles in the Batalik sector during the war. The tribunal has upheld Batalik Commander Brigadier Devinder Singh's plea that his battle report was doctored by the Corp Commander Lieutenant General Kishan Pal.

Brigadier Devinder Singh was forced into retirement after Lieutenant General Kishan Pal's allegation. It also cost him a war medal. He was given the Vishisht Seva Medal for peacetime duties.

Brigadier Singh's contributions in the battle was not acknowleged in the after action report by Lieutenant General Pal, said the tribunal.
