Mumbai: The campaign for HIV/AIDS awareness is growing by the day and the latest star to commit his time to the cause is Hollywood actor Ralph Fiennes, who is also a UNICEF ambassador. Along with former actress and fellow UNICEF ambassador, Sharmila Tagore, Fiennes toured Maharashtra meeting people living under the shadow of HIV/AIDS and what they saw, had a lasting impact. Ralph said that he was moved by the strength shown by India's HIV infected population in the face of severe social ostracism. “There should be commitment to spreading awareness and a sense of companionship that we are together in the fight against HIV/AIDS,” Ralph said. While Sharmila Tagore said things are looking up in India and policymakers are working towards spreading awareness. “So far the children were absent from the mind of the policymakers but now thankfully a lot of things are being done for them,” Sharmila said. The Oscar nominated actor of films like Schindler's List and The Constant Gardner is the latest star to join the campaign in India after President APJ Kalam and superstar Amitabh Bachchan among others.
