Surat: Asaram's son Narayan Sai, who was arrested on Wednesday from the Delhi-Haryana border in the rape and sexual assault case, reached Surat early on Thursday. He will be presented before the court around 11 am on Thursday. He was arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi police. He was absconding for the past 59 days.

Narayan Sai was declared as a proclaimed absconder by a court for evading arrest in connection with the sexual assault case. Earlier, a court has also issued non-bailable warrants against him.

The Gujarat Police had on Sunday arrested two close aides of Sai in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. The Gujarat Police has raided at least five states in the last two months.

The Police had booked Asaram and Sai on charges of rape, sexual assault, illegal confinement and other offences on the complaint lodged by the sisters.

While the younger sister accused Sai of repeated raping her between 2002 and 2005 when she was leaving in Surat Ashram, the elder one accused Asaram of sexual assaults between 1997 and 2006 when she had been living in his ashram.

Asaram (75) was arrested in August on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl at his Jodhpur ashram in Rajasthan and was lodged in jail there.

He was brought to city and interrogated in connection with the sexual assault complaint before he was taken back to Jodhpur.

The complaint against Sai was registered at Jehangirpura police station in Surat, while the one against Asaram was transferred to Ahmedabad as the alleged incident happened there.
