New Delhi: The Supreme Court has asked all government institutions to reveal answer sheets of students under the Right To Information. The fight began four years ago with a student approaching the Calcutta High Court. He wanted to access his answer sheets through RTI. 
 
Even though the court gave a green signal his college authorities challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court. 
 
That is when many others joined the campaign. Divya Jyoti Jaipuriar, a Supreme Court lawyer, was the student who had filed an RTI to get copies of his answer sheets but was turned down 
 
"My application was rejected. I was told that it was a matter of national security. I don't know how it became a national security issue," says Jaipuriar. 
 
With the Supreme Court delivering an order welcomed by students across the country, 23-year-old Rajeev Lochan, an IAS aspirant, says that this ruling will actually help students perform better. 
 
"It will really help student who have given two to three attempts to see where they are going wrong and improve their methods," says Lochan. 
 
Nut members of NGO Josh which was a party in this petition say the battle is only half won. 
 
"The next hurdle is to see how many colleges actually give the answer sheets," says Josh's Saurabh. 
 
At the moment there are four colleges in the country which allow students to have a look at their answer sheets, it remains to be seen how others deal with it.
