Secunderabad: The death toll in the hotel building collapse in Secunderabad in Andhra Pradesh has gone up to 11 while several people have been injured.
According to reports, around 20 people are still trapped under the debris. The injured people have been rushed to the Gandhi Hospital. While rescue operations have begun at the site, the reason of the collapse is yet not known.
"The fire services, state disaster management and CISF teams have been called in. They are carrying out search and rescue operations," Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma said.
One of the eyewitnesses said he heard a loud noise at 4:00 am and when he came out he saw a part of the building had collapsed.
"At 4:00 am in the morning, I heard a loud sound. When I came out to see, the building had collapsed. There are a lot of illegal buildings in this area. But no effort is made to clear them. The corporation sends notices, but then asks for money and settles the issue," a local resident said.
