New Delhi: The husband and mother-in-law of national level shooter Tara Sahdev were arrested in New Delhi on Tuesday night. Tara's husband Ranjit Kohli alias Raqibul Hasan has now denied all charges saying he belongs to a Sikh family.

He was produced at a court in Dwarka on Wednesday after which the Ranchi police got 3-day transit remand of him. He will now be flown to Ranchi. A joint team of the Delhi and Jharkhand Police arrested him from West Delhi on Tuesday.

Sahdev had accused Kohli of misleading her into marriage on a fake identity and then forcing her to convert to Islam. Following the incident, right-wing outfit Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had held massive protests across Jharkhand.

The Home Ministry had sought a report over the matter.
