Solar scam: Court denies any statement by Saritha Nair

Jul 28, 2013 01:37 PM IST India India

Thiruvananthapuram: A Kerala court while hearing the Solar scam case, rejected media reports which said that the accused Saritha Nair has named top ministers in her statement. The court stated media reports to be a bunch of lies and a false propaganda.

The court has said that Saritha must give a statement via jailor by Wednesday.

This comes even as Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and PCC chief Ramesh Chennithala will be meeting Congress top brass on Monday. Chandy is under increasing pressure to quit after allegations of involvement.

The court had earlier on Tuesday slammed the state government asking them about the steps that are being taken to recover the money amassed by the accused.

The solar scam pertains to defrauding a large number of people to the tune of crores of rupees by Saritha Nair and her accomplice Biju Radhakrishnan by offering solar energy solutions.

A duped investor had claimed that he put his money in a fraudulent solar scheme after being reassured about the project in the presence of Chandy. Team Solar partners Saritha Nair and Biju Radhakrishnan, now in police custody, had allegedly duped many investors using their political connections.
