New York: Sooni Taraporevala is an internationally acclaimed screenwriter who is now making her debut as a director with comedy about two Parsi families in Mumbai.

The film, Little Zizou, had its US premiere at the closing night of the Indo-American Arts Council film festival in New York on Sunday.

In an interview with Anirudh Bhattacharyya in New York, Taraporevala talked about her maiden directorial venture

Anirudh Bhattacharyya: So how was it working with Mira Nair?

Sooni Taraporevala: It was great! Although it was difficult as our dates never really matched but even then she’s a great person to consult and work with.

Anirudh Bhattacharyya:Tell me about the film and the Parsi tone in it.

Sooni Taraporevala: It’s a great topic, a community I wanted to make a film on. I can relate to it, so it was easy for me.

Anirudh Bhattacharyya:How was it working with kids?

Sooni Taraporevala: It was great. Some of the kids have never acted before. It was fun, a lot of the acting was inculcated on the spot.

Anirudh Bhattacharyya:Thank you for talking to us.
