So up until recently, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was the master strategist in the poll-bound Karnataka. From approving the demand for separate religion status to the Lingayat community to a separate Kannada flag for the state as part of the Kannada identity politics, he was really on a roll. And then all hell broke loose. While the Congress' first list of 218 candidates for the Karnataka Assembly election clearly left many fuming, Siddaramaiah's advertisement blitzkrieg to build his own brand has put a question mark on the integrity of the leader and his party. RTI documents in CNN News 18's possession show that the chief minister spends Rs 50 lakh every day, which means a total of Rs 57 crore so far, in building his own brand. Isn't it a criminal waste of tax payers' money? Watch The Big Debate.
