Jaipur: Fresh violence erupted in Kalyanpur village of Rishabh Dev town in Udaipur on Friday over the temple row. 
 
The temple town was calm through the morning on Friday and the governement claimed to have control over the situation. But later in the day, the tribals assaulted some policemen and pelted stones at the villagers and the cops. 
 
The police had to rush for cover when 300 tribals clashed with the cops on their way back after a round of talks with government officials. The government had earlier alerted the Army after one person died in the police firing on Thursday and about 30 were injured in clashes between the tribals and the police. 
 
The clashes occurred when over 5,000 tribals gathered there demanding rights over the eighth century temple. They burnt vehicles and set fire to gangsaws used for cutting marble in the mines nearby. The police fired tear gas shells and rubber bullets to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control. 
 
Trouble started on Wednesday morning when tribals clashed with the police to protest against the order and demanded their representation in the governing body of the temple. The tribals were protesting against the Supreme Court's order on January 4 to hand over the in Rishabh Dev temple to the Jain community. 
 
The government says the violence broke out because of a misunderstanding as the tribals were somehow given to understand that they would be denied access to the temple. 
 
The Devasthan department of the Rajasthan Government is currently looking after the temple. Rajasthan Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said on Friday that the situation was under control. "So far, things are under control," he said. 
 
The Opposition parties in Rajasthan are blaming the state government of mishandling the issue. "This is not the way to handle the issue. The police fired at innocent tribal," B D Kalla, President of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, alleged.-
