New Delhi: Delhi school teacher Uma Khurana’s lawyers have alleged in the Delhi High Court that the sting was carried out at the behest of an ex-colleague of hers. They claimed that a former vice-principal of Vivek Vihar Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya had done this because Khurana had accused her of financial irregularity. Khurana said she was transferred to the Daryaganj branch of Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya after she made the complaint. Khurana lost her job and was abused and attacked by a mob after a TV channel did a sting operation in which she was shown pushing her own students into prostitution. Rashmi Singh, an aspiring journalist who posed as a schoolgirl and the victim of a prostitution racket in the sting operation, was on Friday remanded in judicial custody till September 15. Prakash Singh, the reporter who carried out the sting operation, is under arrest. Though Khurana will walk free very soon, as the police have said there is no evidence against her, but her reputation may have been tarnished forever.
