National Capital's longest serving Chief minister and the one who took up the cudgels to transform Delhi, Sheila Dikshit, breathed her last at 3: 55 pm on Saturday, July 20. One of the tallest leaders of Congress, she fought for the grand old party till her last breath. Politicians cutting across party lines rushed to her home to pay their last respects. Pm Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath singh, former PM Manmohan Singh, former President Pranab Mukherjee, Delhi CM Kejriwal were among others who paid homage to the veteran leader. Dikshit who had played a decisive role in the three-term Congress government in Delhi had managed to defeat BJP for consecutive terms, but lost power to the Aam Aadmi Party led by Arvind Kejriwal in December 2013. Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi expressed regret over the loss of senior Congress leader and called her beloved daughter of the Congress party.
