Viewpoint: ‘Hua Toh Hua’ & ‘Kaala Angrez’ Congs Hara-Kiri in 2019?

It's 48 hours since Sam Pitroda's 'Hua toh Hua' comment on the anti-Sikh 1984 riots... and the BJP is determined to use it as political ammunition a day before polls in Delhi and into the last lap of elections in India. PM Modi used the phrase to describe what he called the Congress Party's arrogance down the years. Taking it beyond the anti-Sikh narrative, the PM cited Pitroda's comment to list out a series of failures of past Congress governments. But even as the Congress went on the defensive, Navjot SIngh Sidhu came up with a 'Kaala Angrez' dig at the BJP. He was trying to paint the BJP as a divisive party, but ended up adding more ammunition to the BJP arsenal. The Congress seems unable to rein in its motormouths nor does it appear prepared to counter the BJP's charges.
