Mumbai: Director Vikram Bhatt is ready with his new film Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee, just weeks after delivering a film that had distributors seeing Red, literally.
The man who started his career with hits like Raaz, Kasoor and Ghulam has only delivered duds in the recent past: Red, Ankahee, Deewane Huye Pagal, Jurm, Elaan, Aetbaar and many others.
With eight flops in a row, seems like both critical acclaim and box-office luck is eluding the once experimental director. So is it a case of too many experiments gone wrong?
“Of course, you do analysis of your films and then try something different. You are as good or bad as the stories you decide to tell. I don’t think that audience has anything personal against you. It may be that the story has been told before or nothing interesting in that or something needs to be changed there. With Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee I have done something different. I have gone into new territory and hopefully this should work,” said Bhatt.
Life Mein Kabhi Kabhi stars Aftab Shivdasani, Dino Morea, Samir Dattani, Anuj Swahney and Nauheed Cyrusi.
It revolves around five youngsters in pursuit of happiness and the different routes they follow to achieve it. The cast isn’t too bothered with Vikram's recent flops.
“I believe he has lost five kilos from the time he started the film till the end and more grey hair than before. So, he has been very emotionally attached and absolutely involved from start to the end and he is done complete justice. It’s his calling and critics are going to love him in this film,” said Anuj Swahne.
“Vikram's past films is no barometer to judge how this film will do,” said Sammir Dattani.
We hope that Dino has passed on this message to Vikram as well. Otherwise after this Friday, who knows if the producers will knock at Vikram's door?
