The Supreme Court will hear the Congress-JD(S) petition against the appointment of BJP MLA KG Bopaiah as the pro tem speaker at 10.30 am on Saturday. The two parties had sought an urgent hearing against the appointment, saying that the Governor had ignored norms of seniority with the appointment. The appointment assumes significance as he will oversee proceedings for the floor test on Saturday afternoon. KG Bopaiah was the Karnataka Assembly Speaker from 2009 to 2013 and is known to be a trusted ally of BS Yeddyurappa. He was called 'partisan' by the Supreme Court the last time he was the Speaker.
