Jun 08, 2018 11:50 PM IST India India

A plot to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a "Rajiv Gandhi-type incident" during one of his roadshows has been revealed in a letter seized from a suspected Maoist, who was arrested in connection with the Bhima-Koregaon violence. According to the Pune police, the letter dated April 18 2017 and addressed to one "Comrade Prakash", was found from the home of Delhi-based activist Rona Wilson, who was arrested along with four others. The accused Maoists’ lawyer claims that the letter is fabricated and an attempt to frame them. Congress, meanwhile, ridiculed it and called it a ploy by the Prime Minister ahead of the 2019 elections.
