These are people we look up to, men we go to seeking spiritual guidance and at times they end up abusing the faith and trust we place in them — making them not saints, but monsters. The Malankara Orthodox Church in Kerala has suspended 5 priests for allegedly using a woman's confession to blackmail and sexually abuse her for 3 years. A confession, that is promised to be kept confidential, was used against the woman. The husband of the victim approached the Church and they suspended the 5 priests and decided to hold an internal inquiry. They didn't file a police complaint or inform the police. Are religious institutions above the law?
