It's a new territory for the BJP, where the party or the 2014 Modi wave had no impact. This time, however, the BJP is hoping that the deficit from the Hindi belt — where it peaked in 2014 — would come from eastern India, particularly Bengal. Amit Shah on Thursday gave a clarion call for a Tripura-like parivartan in the state. Lashing out at Mamata Banerjee for unleashing violence against her political rivals, Shah accused the TMC of running a bomb-making industry. He reiterated that the BJP will win 22 out of 42 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
