As a newcomer, Hrithik Roshan made his way into a million hearts dancing to ‘Ek Pal ka Jeena’ from Bollywood blockbuster ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ which was released in January 2000. 21 years later, Hrithik continues to be the star who is immune to the vagaries of the film trade. On his birthday, we explain why Hrithik Roshan remains India’s most bankable star.

With ‘Kaho Na Pyaar hai’ – which was constructed as a traditional star son launch, Hrithik exploded on the screen. With the attention focusing on every aspect of Hrithik as an actor and performer, audiences knew only he had the potential of being pitted against the Khans, which he proved quite successfully with films like Koi Mil Gaya, Dhoom 2, Krrish, Krrish 3, Agneepath.

Unlike other actors who opted for romantic films to cement their position in the industry. Hrithik showed no inhibitions in playing a terrorist in his second and third films Fiza and Mission Kashmir, which left many surprised. Thanks to his ability to experiment with roles, he could never get pigeonholed into playing the same type of character over and over again. From playing mentally disabled child in Koi Mil Gaya, to a thief in Dhoom 2 to an aimless young man who turns into an army officer in Lakshya, Emperor Akbar in Jodhaa Akbar, Patna-based educationist Anand Kumar in Super Thirty, a euthanasia-seeking magician in Guzaarish, Hrithik has proved his acting prowess with all his projects.

Talent, technique, tenacity- Hrithik has all of this to be called a great dancer. With someone like Hrithik who has music in his DNA, interpreting music has never been tough. This is why he can do break-dancing, B-Boying, popping and locking with ease and continue to inspire other actors to step up.

Despite the fact that the popularity of Hollywood superheroes like Superman, Spiderman, Ironman remains unmatched, Hrithik took on the challenge to be India’s first superhero and arrived on the big screen with Krrish.

So clearly, Hrithik with his impeccable acting potential, chiseled body and killer dance moves, will continue to remain a favourite of filmmaker and movie lovers.
