The UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) announces an open-ended international probe into the latest Israel-Palestine conflict. Indian-origin, former South African judge, Navi Pillay to lead the three-person investigation committee. Pillay served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008-2014.
The UN body wants to probe violations during the 11-day conflict between Israel and Palestinians. The investigation would also focus on the ‘systematic’ abuses in Israel and Israeli-occupied West Bank.
