Liquor shops reopened in India on Monday and in a single day, all records of liquor sales have been smashed. People queued up for hours outside liquor shops all across the country. The overwhelming response also led to huge tax collection for state governments. U.P. government collected Rs100 crore in revenue from liquor sale in a day. Karnataka government collected Rs 45 crore in taxes. The Delhi government has even imposed a 70% 'Coronavirus Tax' on liquor in addition to the MRP.
