COVID-19 outbreak comes to fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya's rescue as it may push his much-awaited extradition to India. A dedicated detention centre for Mallya in Arthur Road jail in Mumbai is the only location approved by the British courts. Mallya’s extradition is conditional to his detention in the Arthur Road jail, but it has reported a Coronavirus outbreak. 200 COVID-19 positive cases were found in the jail, including members of the prison staff. Mallya cannot be detained in any other jail unless it is cleared by the U.K. court.
