Tamil Actress Alleges Harassment; Says It's Time Women Stand Up for Themselves

Just two days after a Malayalam actress alleged she was molested in the car, another actress from Tamil Nadu claims she faced harassment from a programming head of a leading TV channel. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, who has worked in Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam films, opened up and penned down the entire incident in a Twitter post. In an interaction with CNN News18, the actress shed light into the incident and urged women to stand up for their safety. She said, "It's not just about this particular incident because it's not such a great incident as compared to other stories we keep hearing about. The point is we hear so many stories and we can't do anything about it. We just stand by helpless and watch these things happen. There's no punishment for these people. The more we keep quiet, nothing is ever going to change in the society. We need to stand up for ourselves. It's about time we stand up and stop shaming ourselves and start shaming the actual ones who're doing the actual events."
