Rudrapur: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani launched a scathing attack on Congress President and United Progressive Alliance Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Saturday, alleging that not many in the country know her views on vital issues.

Advani, who is on a nation-wide anti-corruption yatra which will end on November 20, said in Rudrapur, Uttarakhand, that people across the country have not heard Sonia Gandhi for a long time.

"For a person who is supposedly No. 1 in the political hierarchy of the UPA what shocks and astounds me is that she's not known to many in the country. What are her views on various issues?" asked Advani.

Speaking on his yatra Advani said that the immediate release of BJP leaders on bail in the cash-for-votes scam is the biggest achievement of his anti-corruption crusade.

"The bail given by the courts (in cash-for-votes) is by far the biggest and the immediate achievement of the yatra," said the BJP leader.

Meanwhile in New Delhi the top BJP leadership on Saturday felicitated its leaders who have been granted bail and released in the cash-for-votes scam.

BJP MP Ashok Argal along with former MPs Faggan Singh Kulaste, Mahavir Singh Bhagora and former aide of Advani, Sudheendra Kulkarni, was garlanded by party President Nitin Gadkari, and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj.

The BJP called their release a vindication of its leaders who it calls are the 'whistleblowers' in the cash-for-votes scandal.

"Instead of felicitating them they were accused and put behind bars. Even (Rajya Sabha MP and former Samajawadi Party leader) Amar Singh was sent to jail. If Amar singh had given the money how can our men who exposed this scam be held accused?" asked Sushma Swaraj.
