Birbhum: The members of the Bharatiya Janata Party's fact-finding team on the attacks on party leaders in Birbhum were on Thursday arrested and then released on bail. The team led by Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was taken into custody just 4 km ahead of Birbhum as it tried to break barricades.

In the wake of increased attacks on BJP workers in West Bengal's Birbhum district, allegedly by TMC workers, a three-member fact-finding team of the BJP was visiting Birbhum to assess the situation. The team was set up by BJP President Amit Shah.

The police stopped the team due to prohibitory orders just ahead of Birbhum. After discussions, the BJP leaders including BJP WEst Bengal chief Rahul Sinha tried to break barricades to enter Birbhum, following which they were arrested.

Earlier this week, three people were killed when TMC and BJP supporters allegedly clashed in a village in Birbhum district.
