New Delhi: After quitting the Congress, Haryana leader Chaudhary Birender Singh has hit out at Chief Minister Bhupinder Hooda. Speaking to CNN-IBN Singh said that Hooda has become a liability to the party. He also said the Congress can't exist without the Gandhis. Following is the transcript of an excerpt from the interview:
CNN-IBN: What has gone so wrong that today you are being shown the door out of the Congress party?
Birender Singh: Actually, I have been shown the door is not correct. What I thought in the past few years is that Hooda-led government is making the Congress lose its ground. I went to Soniaji not once but dozens of times. I met the party Vice President also, but whenever I met, they agreed but no action was taken on this account. Hooda is a liability.
CNN-IBN: So are Sonia and Rahul?
Birender Singh: I have an experience of 42 years, I know the pulse of the people of the country. If the Gandhis are out, it is half a dozen party.
CNN-IBN: So you are saying that the Congress cannot survive without the Nehru-Gandhi family?
Birender Singh: They are the rallying points.
