Hyderabad: Brother of the Congress leader and film star Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, himself a star, will be launching his new political party, Janasena on Friday in Hyderabad.
It is being seen as an embarrassment for Chiranjeevi as Pawan may eat into the veteran actor's vote bank in coastal Andhra. They hail from Kapu community and Chiranjeevi is considered their big leader.
After former chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy quit the Congress, Chiranjeevi has emerged as the topmost leader of the Congress in Andhra Pradesh, where it is facing a huge challenge in the Assembly and the Lok Sabha elections to be held together on May 7.
According to reports, Pavan Kalyan will be focusing only on a few Assembly and Lok Sabha seats in Coastal Andhra and Telangana. There are strong rumours that he may even contest in the Lok Sabha elections from Nalgonda or Kammam. Some say he will contest from coastal Andhra.
With Kiran Kumar Reddy's recently launched 'Samaikandhra Party' and Pavan Kalyan's Janasena, the coastal Andhra and Telangana will have 8-9 political parties contesting in the most crucial Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
