Herat: The Afghanistan security forces continue to look for the Indian who was abducted in Herat earlier this week. Sources say that aerial search operations are being held to locate the NGO worker.
Herat Governor Sayed Fazal Ullah Wahidi told CNN-IBN that the abductors had tried to take Father Alexi Prem Kumar to another province but the government foiled their attempts.
Wahidi further confirmed that Kumar was safe and was in Herat itself.
Father Alexis Prem Kumar, who was working with an NGO, was abducted in Herat province on Monday while he was on his way to a project site.
Although the Taliban had not claimed responsibility of the incident, Afghanistan Interior Ministry told CNN-IBN that the Taliban was behind the abduction.
Kumar was travelling despite an advisory to all Indians not to travel outside Herat city after the attack on the Indian consulate a week and a half ago.
