Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal chief and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has hinted at forming a Third Front after the elections. Speaking to CNN-IBN, Patnaik said he was confident of the BJD doing well in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Following is the transcript of the interview:
Jajati Karan: What is the response you're getting from the people out here?
Naveen Patnaik: An excellent response and I expect the BJD to do very well indeed in the forthcoming elections.
Jajati Karan: What is the reason for this magic working again and again?
Naveen Patnaik: I think it is for all the development programmes and welfare schemes that the government is bringing for the people over the years.
Jajati Karan: Sir, you have told CNN-IBN that this time in Lok Sabha, it would be a fractured mandate. And if that is the case, then many believe that you could be the kingmaker in Delhi?
Naveen Patnaik: Let us wait for the results, then we will see.
Jajati Karan: Regarding the Third Front, initially you mooted the idea of federal front and then the Third Front, but when the elections came very near, you seem to have backtracked, why is it so? And is there any possibility of the Third Front or federal front after the elections.
Naveen Patnaik: I've always said that these are early days for the Third Front, let us see after the elections.
Jajati Karan: My final question, Modi has come twice to Odisha and he seems to be very soft on you, he didn't speak much against you. Many believe that the BJP is still hoping that after the elections, there might be a BJP-BJD alliance, do you see any possibility of that?
Naveen Patnaik: I know nothing at all about that.
Jajati Karan: There's no possibility of any alliance with the BJP at all?
Naveen Patnaik: No, there isn't.
