Patna: The political blame game over the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani Express derailment has begun with Former Railway Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad slamming the Narendra Modi government for not taking any precautions.
"This is gross negligence. From the day this government took oath, there have been accidents across the country. They are just immersed in their own pride," Lalu said.
He said that if at all the incident was a sabotage by the Naxals, the government is all the more responsible. "This is a major accident. 4 people are dead and many injured. Why were precautions not taken by the railways? There should have been patrolling half an hour before the train departs. Why wasn't it done? The administration is talking about a sabotage. Then the responsibility of Railways increases all the more," Lalu said.
"We demand swift action and strict punishment for those found guilty. Rs 10 lakh compensation. This meagre compensation is an eyewash," he added.
Former Railways Minister and Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that more vigilance is required in Naxal-affected areas. "Such incidents are happening quite frequently. More vigilance is required in areas that are affected by the Naxals," Kharge said.
