Mumbai: MNS workers in Mumbai have held BMC officials captive in Mumbai over pothole menace in the city on Tuesday. The MNS workers said that they will not let the BMC official go until the potholes in Dadar are fixed.

The MNS claims that complaints about potholes have gone unheeded for the past two months. The MNS has also demanded that contractors who are not upto the mark be black listed.

The move comes a day after a 48-year-old woman died in Mumbai after falling from a two-wheeler while trying to avoid a pothole on a road in Vasai. The incident took place on Friday near the Vasai rail bridge. She succumbed to her injuries on Sunday. The woman who had her daughter pillion riding with her, died after suffering head injuries.

This was the third death in Mumbai due to potholes. CNN-IBN had reported how even after spending crores for over five years on reconstruction of roads in Mumbai, potholes continue to trouble commuters in the financial city of the country.

Earlier this month, 28-year-old civil engineer Umesh, was killed when his two wheeler hit a six inch pothole on the Western Express Highway. Despite wearing a helmet, Umesh sustained injuries and was declared dead on arrival at hospital.
